The "Camps" have become an alternative way to take MHTP classes that students really enjoy. They take place at a camp or retreat center in the midst of nature. We are expanding our offering to the West Coast in Eugene, Oregon. Module 1 & 2 take place May 6 to 10, and Modules 3 & 4 October12 to 16, both at Camp Harlow. In New York: Module 1 & 2 will be offered June 21 to 25 and Module 3 & 4 on August 16 to 20. Students may take any or both Modules offered at each camp. Please note: student must be an intermediate musicians in order to take both Modules 1 & 2 together at the camps.
The founders of MHTP had a clear vision for the Program they were creating. The objectives of the Music for Healing and Transition Program are charitable and educational, and include: Serving the ill and dying with live music to facilitate and promote healing or assist in the life/death transition; Teaching the professional practice of this service; Establishing centers for education all over the United States; Publishing information, research findings and other material about this unique profession; Developing affiliations with healing, charitable and educational organizations where this service may be provided by Certified Music Practitioners (CMP) ™.
MHTP instructors are Certified Music Practitioners (CMP's) ™ and/or highly trained specialists in their field. Those who are CMPs have an active independent therapeutic music practice in their hometown locations. A specifically trained and dedicated instructor is provided for each module.
MHTP is a member of The National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians (NSBTM), which has created Professional Standards for Therapeutic Musicians www.therapeuticmusician.com
Our Vision:
The Music for Healing & Transition Program (MHTP) professionally trains and certifies musicians to provide live therapeutic music, which creates healing environments for the ill and/or dying and all who may benefit. We recognize music as a therapeutic enhancement to the healing process and the life/death transition. Our graduates are Certified Music Practitioners (CMP™). We collaborate with healthcare facilities and community organizations to educate about, and promote research in, the effectiveness of therapeutic music.

The MHTP Conferences usually bring together about 150 CMPs, MHTP students and friends in a warm, joyous and intense learning environment. Each one is different. This Conference is beginning to shape itself into one that will be an experience in "deepening" as professional therapeutic musicians. We will be sharing and learning from the experienced CMPs who have refined their practice and developed excellence in their marketing tools and work, learn from experts tools for marketing and grantmanship, hear about therapeutic music research from those who have done or are doing the
research, learn practical tools for self-care, and have a great deal of fun sharing our music.
If you would like to join the Conference planning group
or chair a committee, we are still seeking volunteers.
There are a limited number of work-study scholarships
