Self-care for Musicians

Two Saturdays: April 10 and April 24, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Eastern Time. Participants must be available for both days.

Self-care for musicians

This self-care and improv music-making/visioning 2- day webinar is designed to provide physical, emotional and social support for Musicians.

Participants will be invited into an embodied experience of making music by coming into the body with breathing and movement practices designed to support proper alignment for music making. Participants will engage in a meditation for creative visioning and work with creating and playing their own musical affirmations.

Webinar components include:

  • Resilience building

  • Self-Care

  • Breathing techniques

  • Posture/Alignment

  • Meditation

  • Upper body

  • Spine

  • Lower body

  • Focus and balance

  • Sound healing and reflective writing prompts

  • Musical affirmations and improvisational music making

Each session will begin with movement and end with the musical exercises. There will be a short break if participants need to adjust their computer cameras or change their space for the transition from movement to music.

You will need your instrument; the movement portions will be guided for you to either sit in a chair or use a yoga mat to do the practice on the floor. Also have with you a journal and water for hydration.
