This webinar will give a brief overview of the culture and history of North American indigenous peoples, presented by CMP and Ethnomusicologist, Melissa Straus. Through lecture, discussion and interactive activity, you will find places of common connections with awareness and respect for cultural boundaries when providing live therapeutic music.
Along with the webinar you will receive handouts and the webinar recording for review after the class.
CMPs and graduates of other therapeutic music training programs receive 2 CEUs.

This webinar is facilitated by Dr. Melissa Straus, DMA, CMP. Melissa holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Michigan State University with an academic emphasis in Ethnomusicology. She has taught World Music and has presented on ethnomusicology at international and national conferences, including the 2022 MHTP Biennial Conference.
Melissa completed the MHTP program in 2014 and works as a Certified Music Practitioner at McLaren Greater Lansing.

Cancellation: If MHTP cancels this webinar because of too few participants or any other reason, all participants will be notified via email and will receive a full refund. If a participant must cancel, that participant should immediately notify MHTP. If a participant cancels more than one week in advance of the first workshop, a full refund will be given. If a participant cancels less than one week in advance (after 4:00pm EST November 5), no refund will be given.
