This event is 4:00 pm EASTERN TIME (3:00 pm Central, 2:00 pm Mountain, 1:00 pm Pacific) for 2 hours on 2 successive Sundays, January 7th and January 14th.
Have you forgotten the basic music theory you once knew? Are you an amateur musician who has never studied theory? Or have you tried teaching yourself but need help from a live instructor? Matt Peroutka, instructor of this 2-day theory workshop, will teach you the basics of music theory. Topics will include notes, intervals, parallel intervals, half steps, whole steps, scales, keys, tonic note, modes (just a little), triads, triad notation, chord notation, chord progressions, lead sheets, bass lines, and pedal tones. This class is a great way to prepare for Karen Ashbrook's Mystery of the Modes Webinars.
Dates: January 7th and 14th, 2023, 4-6 p.m. Eastern
CMPs and graduates of other therapeutic music training programs earn 4 CEUs.
$90 for the 2-day webinar. $45 for current MHTP students. You must attend both days. FREE with this 2-day webinar is a theory review on February 11th 4-5:15 taught by Karen Ashbrook.
No instruments or pre-work needed. This webinar is taught by Matt Peroutka, CMP and Module 2 Teacher. Matt will be using portions of the Open Music Theory textbook (https://viva.pressbooks.pub/openmusictheory/) to guide the class.
Matt Peroutka, CMP, has a passion for playing guitars, and he has been doing that for more than 50 years. In high school and college he played bass in a rock band, moved up to jazz, and eventually developed his fingerstyle guitar playing. Most recently he has studied classical guitar. Matt became a Certified Music Practitioner in 2011, and began working at the University of Maryland Medical Center soon after that. He now works at this hospital and Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. He has also pursued a successful career as a meteorologist, from which he has retired. Matt lives in Ellicott City, Maryland with his wife, Mary. He has taught for MHTP since 2015.
Open to absolutely anyone. CMPs and graduates from other therapeutic music programs earn 4 continuing education units (CEUs). Current MHTP students may attend for half-price.
